Waterview:  Where Families Come Home

Young families come in stages.

Raising children or simply being an adult in today’s society is a challenge. Our enemy prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1Peter 5:8). That is why we do our best to spend time in God’s word together as a body of believers each week. Here at Waterview, we provide opportunities for our young families to grow together and grow in the knowledge of God’s word in order to help us all stand firm against the enemy. God tells us that we are a part of His family. As brothers and sisters in Christ; we (Waterview) want to provide activities and programs to strengthen our relationships as friends and as brothers and sisters in Christ. In order that we can carry each other’s burdens and rejoice with those that rejoice.

This is accomplished through weekly adult Bible classes and special opportunities like our annual Marriage and Family Seminar where guest
Speakers discuss how to further develop our marriages. We also have classes designed around raising children God’s way and additional learning opportunities during our Sunday night or Wednesday night Bible classes.

We try to provide consistent Bible study opportunities and events that provide an opportunity for our young families to bond together and get to know each other through things like LOA groups and the Waterview Diner during the summer series, and more.

Building Strong Marriages

In today’s society, we don’t see a lot of honor for the institution of marriage. Our country is twisting the definition of it, people are breaking their marriage covenants, and the list goes on. Are we any different in the church? I certainly hope so! Consider what the Hebrew writer says in 13:4, “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”

We are to honor marriage and keep it holy and pure, not twist and pervert it as is happening in the world around us.

Ephesians 5:31-33 says it this way,

31 “’Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.”

With these things in mind, we have decided that we will host annual Marriage Seminars entitled One Man. One Woman. For Life. These seminars are usually held over Valentine’s weekend using an outstanding speaker who gives practical advice to maintain a strong marriage. A small fee is charged for materials (which includes a catered lunch). Free childcare is available.

It is our desire to provide every opportunity to strengthen marriages!

Come join us as we seek to develop stronger marriages within the body of Christ!

Waterview Christian Preschool

Waterview hosts a Christian preschool from the beginning of September through the end of May. They meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 AM to 2 PM with classes available for children from 12 months to 4 and 5 years old.

The school is designed around making learning age appropriate for each child’s stage of development. Bible stories form the basis for a wholesome, healthy attitude and each class has a Bible story every day. Classes aim to develop each child to their full potential spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially following the Wee Learn Curriculum.

The children play together daily, do music and rhythm activities, art work, fundamental math and science work, all based on a Biblical structure.

For complete information regarding the preschool (including tuition, schedule and curriculum) please check their website.

Mothers of Young Children

young mothers--group

Being a mother is a challenging endeavor. Often times, young women find themselves’ overwhelmed with this new role of motherhood and don’t always know what to do. After all, children don’t come with an instruction manual.

Here at Waterview, the older women have taken it upon themselves to help the younger generation of mothers learn to raise their children and further develop their marriages. Beginning on the first Tuesday of September at 7 pm, they meet monthly through April. A light meal and time of fellowship are shared together and much encouragement and wisdom is given. (A free nursery is provided)

– Titus 2:3-5 “[Older women] are to teach what is good, 4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.”

(A Children’s Bible Class and a free nursery are available.)

New Life Celebration

One of the great blessings of Waterview is the sound of a baby’s cry in the building. Those sounds are the music of new life.

Each year, we have a special time of introducing families who had a new addition to their family during the previous year. We play a brief video to give the congregation a chance to hear from the young families, see all their children, and experience the hopes and joys of these new parents.

Following our morning assembly, we have a special luncheon in honor of the families. Gifts are given and love is bestowed.

These are only a few ways, the Waterview church wants to support parents in the raising of their children to love and serve God.
